I don't know where to post this, so I gonna leave it here.

In the midst of the 90's Hollywood producers turned a LIVE pilot of SAINT SEIYA … #NoFake A few days ago, a trailer never broadcast was found by Spanish fans, the result is beyond comprehension ?!

This is the most bad & kitch shit I have seen in a while. Mortal Kombat movies were good compared to this…

^I can see why don't find appealing this current season: with most of anime based either highschool/isekai setting, things can get vert stale very fast. And being honest the only anime I'm watching currently are Cells at Work and My Hero Academia.

I'm just asking for good characters, an interesting setting and well animated action scenes, that's what I want!

actions optional for me.

Just finished Happy Sugar Life.

There is quality to be found in its stellar visual and audio direction, and Episode 7 stands out as a really creative perspective shift, but there's so much laughable and melodramatic bullshit that I found it hard to take seriously. If you're turned off by the premise, like I should have been, don't even bother. There is quality here, it's just that the show's core content, its characters and story, are not up to par with the highlights.

5/10 at best, 4/10 at worst.

Bumping this thread.

Started watching Cowboy Bebop for the first time a couple days ago. I know it's kind of common knowledge of this anime being considered a masterwork of science fiction, but regardless, so far for me, not a single episode has failed to engage me, and I'm only halfway through the series. The visuals hold up incredibly well for an anime that is 20 years old and the characters are all great and engaging. Not to mention the world of Cowboy Bebop is so cool and engaging as well. I'm only halfway through and I can't wait to watch the next half of the series.

So I heard you want to make a anime show that hits, eh?

  1. Get an idol group.
  2. Add an extraordinary element in it, like racehorses, stage plays or zombies.
  3. ???
  4. PROFIT!!

And that's what made A Place Further Than the Universe so special: it delivered without needing an idol group. Congratulations, you are the Anime of the Year.

Also, there's the Shittiest Anime of the Year. And we all know which.

Not mentioning the phenomenal original soundtrack of the series is a sin.

^Now speaking of Kaguya
Am I the only one who doesn't like Kaguya at all, or it's just me?
I swear, in everyplace everyone is weebing the fuck out about the manga/anime, I honestly surprised how KYM haven't made an entry in the get go given its popularity. I don't see really what makes Kaguya so damn interesting: the setting, the premise and characters you probably saw it in other shows.
So yeah I don't like it, if anyone wants to debate me about it I'll be here from 5 to 7.

Honestly, I don't like the Kaguya's anime either. And I'm like the manga, but the anime was pretty meh. Even, I had problems for end the serie at all.

In other hand, this year look very solid in anime titles. In Sprong we have Mob Psycho 100, Dororo, 5-touboun, etc. This season we have OPM 2, Kimetsu no Yaiba, Senryuu Shoujo, etc. And in the year we will have things like Vinland Saga, Katsute Kami Datta Kemono-tachi e, Beastars, etc.

Honestly, this is one of the best anime years in this century. Prove me wrong.

I don't like the Kaguya's anime either.

Whelp that's A-1 pictures for ya but I agree, the anime adaptation did not make justice for the manga artwork, specially for Kayuga and Shirogame, their designs looked flat and boring in contrast to the manga where they're very expressive and detailed in their facial expressions. I may not like the source material but for the fans of Kayuga it really was a big oof.

Sheesh. Something as basic as an anime general not being posted in for 4 years? If that’s not a sign of a forum in its twilight years, then I don’t know what is.

Anyway, I’m feeling massively nostalgic for Digimon. Despite the fact that I unfortunately never watched the anime in its completion. I figured I oughta change that, and I’ll even try and watch as many seasons in English as possible.

I randomly decided to watch all of Xros Wars (excluding Young Hunters) and it was… well I had high hopes, and was mildly entertained… but I ultimately ended agreeing with the common opinion that it’s no good.

English dubs that have script changes, storyline changes, remove aspects of Japanese culture, change tone, censor the story, or are just plain bad have always been criticized in the English speaking anime community. Now they’re more controversial than ever. And specifically amongst ENG speaking Digimon fans, people have been turning against Digimon’s dub because it has a particularly egregious localization. And yet I’m still really fond of it despite knowing better. I feel like it has a so-bad-it’s-good appeal, I have a big appreciation for voice actors I associate with the franchise like Lara Jill Miller or Derek Stephen Prince, and I actually like certain changes as an alternate way to view the story.

I want to go back and watch the whole franchise in Japanese once I watch it all English. The JP version is the original and is how the story is actually intended to be portrayed. But I just can’t hate the English dubs.

I just posted this fanart of Toko Fukawa from Danganronpa to this site, which made me realize that there are a few anime girls who look similar to her. (The version in THH, not the version from UDG that's depicted in the art.)

For example, Homura Akemi (the "moe" version) from Puella Magi, and Manami Okuda from Assassination Classroom. This realization also made me wonder: is there a name for the trope of a shy girl with glasses and dark hair in braids in anime?

Speaking (2 years later) of Digimon.

I am finally rewatching Digimon Tamers alongside someone with no knowledge of the series at all. I last saw the series (save for Runaway Trailmon) as a kid when it was airing on US tv. I did miss a few episodes when it was aring but I understood the gist of what happened in the gaps.

The earlier episodes are a lot more confusing and messy than I would like. I assumed that I was just an idiot kid, which was why I didn't understand everything, but there are just parts that are not well explained (unsure if this just is a dub issue or not). Also, the animation… Digimon is kind of infamous for that not being the best (Dokugumon often being a static spider that just gets bigger instead of moving legs to go forward is perhaps the most egregious example).

With that said, while the person I was watching it with was only able to continue at the beginning because I said it would get better later, they have since come around to agreeing that the show is really good.

As for me, while I was always a bigger fan of Frontier than Tamers when I was young, being older and understanding what is going on (majorly helped by actually seeing all the episodes) has made me realize why people don't really care for Frontier much. I still like it, but it is almost entirely because I like the Digital World there. The characters, story, and most of the stuff that matters are generally weaker.

There was an anime thread this whole time?

I finished the Blame! manga a few weeks ago and to my surprise there was a netflix film of it made in 2017. I gave it a watch the other day, it was fine. A little middling because of the choice to go with 3d animation and less emphasis on visual world building the manga is known for. It generally looks quite decent, particularly towards the end when the action ramps up, it great! but most of the time it has that awkward stiffness 3d anime can't shake off quite yet.

Still, I applaud the effort since I would consider the manga itself largely un-adaptable so 3d was a pragmatic choice. For anyone who's never picked up Blame! it's carried by environmental storytelling and stylized, intricate artwork. You gawk at it more than read, the story itself is incredibly sparse and esoteric.

Can't believe there was an anime thread here either.

I recently been watching mieruko chan & so far I'm intrigued watching the show up to episode 7, really like the ghost designs as well probably the best I've seen of them as genuine horror material.

I'm looking forward to what else the show has in store.

Yup, I've experienced this a few times myself for no particular cause that I can discern. These false-bans usually resolve themselves in about a day or less so I shrug them off.
