Hey, everyone. Mentioned in the announcement thread about the old site being sunset that I would start up a thread for y'all to report bugs, suggestions, general feedback, etc. about the redesign since a user recommended it.

I know there have been other individual posts/threads/comments, but it will definitely help to have these all catalogued in one place for easy tracking, so please use this as much as possible and I'll make sure to pass along anything to the devs. I'm also subscribed to this thread, so feel free to hmu directly if needed, especially if it's something urgent.

Appreciate y'all helping to report stuff, and I'll do my best to be a courier for these things as they come through. o7

Maybe make the "Original Content" tag on the New Site a bit better? The red text with the blue background makes it a bit muddy. On the Old Site, the tag was white text on blue. Maybe keep it the same palette as the old site for consistency?

Can we at least get an option to see a regular chronological feed like before? With all these random articles shown at the top of the page it's impossible to find any sort of order to it.

A re-ordering of the side bar on the front page. Feels like it could be better, like having top 5 weekly meme or latest images at the top, then monthly, then moving the random buttons to like, here

Not exactly that but I think it makes more sense and visually looks better imo then shoved on the side bar.

Edit: Also maybe a line between the top to more visual separate the top user bar and the search bar so it doesn't look so damn awkward as to why the is both KYM and KnowYourMeme is on there. Especially if the KYM bar is gonna be the new default quick select bar

Can we please have proper comment editor for both comment section and forums? instead of manually inserting all the HTML Code, text format, colour, sized, emojies, image embering e.t.c by ourselves

and of course DARK MODE and Edit Comment (within 10-15 minutes)

Can we see how many comments an image has, like the old site did.

I hate to name drop and point fingers at an individual, but can we please not have LiterallyAustin use a bot to manage the freaking media gallery? It has been driving me insane for the past couple of days since I last checked, because it means US media moderators have to clean up the mess the bot has made. Hopefully most of you remember when Reddit Moments was releasing all that "high-quality" content when it was active, right? It's been creating a huge dilemma of what it thinks is NSFW and it been flagging various SFW media as NSFW. Sorry, I just needed to get this out there, as it has been extremely annoying to see this happen and make me question what issues the developers are taking into account for the future of this site.

This is definitely not my favorite thing either… I've tried my best to express my concerns over this and similar changes as well. Just ask my team and they will tell you 😂. At the moment we do not have plans to do more of these "bot" style updates that you are referring to. 🤞 Personally I am a strong advocate for requiring a human to hit the confirm button after reviewing each of these. On the other hand the amount of positive change from this was probably worth it.. there is an enormous amount of content on KYM and moderating it by hand is very difficult.

Yeah, this is something Don and I have both discussed and want. It'll be like knowyourmeme.com/latest or something and will be the same kind of chronological feed as the old front page, but it hasn't been finished yet.

Jill asked about this last week, and I passed it along (basically adding the number of likes/dislikes and comments back to the image preview page), so it's in the queue.

There is something like this on the entry editing tools, so maybe we could have it display for comments or something too.

Uh, the trending images doesn't work

Just flagged this to them, was working fine the other day, so idk what happened, but they're aware now.

This issue should be fixed now, just tested it and got no duplicates anymore. Also comments are loading properly again without having to click to display them.

Alright, bet. I'll list some of the bugs and stuff I have noticed while browsing the old site and new site that I noticed on Android and desktop.

-The most recent news articles/meme entries are stationary, you only see three articles from the same day, past it is the most recent articles. I've seen articles from Monday on top of the website on Thursday as well, and past it is the articles from Thursday.

-Any old image galleries cannot go past the first page, on new and old sites, including the top rated images of all time, most commented, ect.

-Any time you open a new image on the trending tab of the image gallery on the second page of it on infinite scroll, it will always open to the comment page of that image. This gets annoying since the image page will immediately go back to the top of the trending, instead of where you left off at.

-Anytime you open a NSFW image on the second page of Trending on infinite scroll, it will take you to the comment section like the bug above, however the NSFW spoiler image will appear elongated within the boundaries of the original image. Clicking this elongated image will take you to the image itself in a new tab showing the NSFW image. This is annoying since you open three different tabs basically to see a single image.

-Comments will not be displayed at all, and will be in a continuous loading screen until you hit display comments. This is just frustrating since when this first happened, I assumed that I had to wait a while for the comments to display since there was a loading circle. Turns out you have to click the display button at this moment and time.

-Anytime you click an article, the fonts of the comment section are vastly different, and are unpleasing to look at. They do not show any profile picture, and the fonts are strange to look at compared to the original article those comments are on.

Those are the few bugs I have personally found, and if needed can provide evidence for each one. I just need to figure out how to post images in comments and forum posts since I am unfamiliar with how to do so.

In the "Latest Images" section, filter out all the junk uploaded by Jamie Hamilton and all the other data scraped from Reddit. Whatever you're achieving with all that nonsense, it renders the entire section completely useless.

its less of a bug but a general complaint, i've noticed that scrolling through the image gallery is much slower in the new site than the old site. its probably the #1 reason ive stayed on the old site.

I found a workaround for image galleries. See, when you click the page number you want at the bottom it adds '/sensitive' to the URL. Remove that and you can view as much of the gallery as you want. :)
HOWEVER. I will say that I've gotten two disaster girls in a row. Multiple times. Like just now. I also managed to spot this:

also images dont load after the 2nd page for image galleries for memes when you sort them. like choose a meme, go to images, then sort and try to scroll. a second set of images may load but after that they stop

Bring back the color to the up/downvote buttons, shrink the comment text down because it's ginormous on desktop, and please re embolden the buttons the site feels flat.

PSA: as of the time of writing this, you can access the old comment section design by manually adding "/comments" to the end of the URL of whatever page you want to see comments on.

Just asked the devs and they're trying to fix the 500 errors and the comments right now.

Funny how even with the site falling apart with the 500 errors, comments not working, editing images not working and galleries merging, the reddit bots are working at full capacity.

The changes are imploding the website, all the trending tabs redirect to unrelated galleries.

NaN, site is giving me a 404 now when I try to reply but I just flagged this to the devs too. Seems like something is causing a bunch of weird issues over the last few weeks.

Trending images is completely screwed like it's only showing stuff that was uploaded awhile ago and it looks like a ton recent trending stuff is completely gone. I can't even find the feedback thread on the forums among other problems.

Yeah, this site is mondo fucked.

Trending images are just gone.
Images don't load more than a dozen before saying "No more content".
"Recent" images are showing images from 6 years ago.
Comments still broken.
500 Errors up the ass.
Getting logged into different users accounts.
Relevant images are showing random galleries.
Galleries are merging with each other.
NSFW images are still a stretched red icon, forcing you to open them twice to see them.
Bot scraped galleries are permanently on "Top galleries" even though there is no user activity there.
Page 2+ from galleries aren't working for MONTHS now.
Editing images (tags, links, removing NSFW from retarded bot) only goes through after several hours to a whole day.
More than a million images are still falsely flagged from the idiot bot attack last month, sometimes an entire gallery got affected like the Shantae one.

But hey, one of the Reddit bots just stole another hundred random images for the new "25 images you have never seen stolen from Reddit" list that no one will see.

I don't fully understand what's been going on, but apparently the site is being flooded with a crazy amount of bots and this has been causing a lot of the issues lately (think this is different than spam bots like making accounts and posting like we've seen for years).

The devs and tech people are working to fix it, but yeah, been causing a lot of issues with the site across the board this week.

I'll let y'all know when I hear any other major updates, but they're working on it.

I will say that at around 1am GMT-5 last night the new site was running smoothly when scrolling through the image gallery. Previously it took several seconds to load the next set of ima. Then i saw people complaining about more problems so i went to see the old site and yeah it is certainly having a lot of problems.

Alright, feels like I can finally say what's been bothering me for awhile recently on here. Not only are the updated comments on the old ui poorly made (you can't click on any of them & there's nothing to separate original comments from replies) but the trending images which previously showed the most recent content trending and was a good method to find good posts and user interactivity without having to shovel through the endless reposted Images by staff & the redditbot suddenly stopped working, now it only shows a few posts from several years and previews are now just a solid black screen that can only be clicked off.

And that's just the beginning of things recently wrong here and if these fumbled updates are a result of the bots, can you please return them to how they originally worked after dealing with said bots?

At least the Trending Images page actually had images in it.

Well, the old UI's trending images seem to have been partially fixed, but there are still plenty of problems. For one, previews don't load anymore. The black screen opens up, but the preview itself only briefly appears when you close it. Secondly, comments are still completely fucked. Way too big, images especially tend to be massively oversized, they show twice if I click the "show sensitive comment" button that is always there on every comment for some reason, replies aren't properly separated from parents, I can't actually add any new comments besides seemingly replies, and I can't tell if comments are just being shown at random (instead of newest first) or if it's just the reply issue I already mentioned.

+1 to this, i open the page, ''welcome gojibot'', it fixed after clicking on anything

the four small images which were featured under the main image that showed content relevant to the gallery said main image is in (which was my favorite feature implemented here alongside previews) suddenly stopped doing that & just shows random images not even from trending.

surely this has to be a bug and not something the staff willingly put as a redesign because that's an insane level of incompetence even for them.

Profile walls don't even work anymore.
