About
Egg McBig is a fan-made character within the One Piece fandom. Designed as a parody of series creator Eiichiro Oda’s unique character designs that often feature unconventional body proportions, tragic backstories and connections to other notable characters, Egg McBig is depicted as a round, egg-shaped man who possesses no arms (on account of eating the "No-Arm No-Arm Fruit" or "No-Arm No Mi Fruit," a parody of the series' magic Devil Fruit that gifts various powers to characters).
The character is frequently compared to the Glup Shitto meme from the Star Wars fandom, representing an "obscure background character" that fans treat with exaggerated reverence. Perhaps more accurately, the character has also been referred to as "the Graggle Simpson of One Piece."
Origin
The Egg McBig character was first invented by Redditor Zodiatron on March 25th, 2026, which was posted to the /r/OnePiece[1] subreddit. Zodiatron’s original design featured a hairy, egg-shaped man in overalls with curly green hair, a scar over his right eye and no arms. This iteration of the character also featured a swirly green tattoo on the left side of his body.
Zodiatron's Reddit post introducing the character garnered over 7,000 upvotes and 360 comments in five days.
Spread
Over the following days, the Egg McBig character was adopted almost immediately by the /r/OnePiece subreddit and community at large, starting with fan art posted by Redditor SunForge_Arts on March 25th, 2026, as a comment under the original post,[2] receiving over 3,100 upvotes in five days.
SunForge_Arts's contribution inspired others, such as Redditors imdfantom[3] and Obvious-Gate9046,[4] to follow suit, with many users continuing to play along with the joke by adding their own anecdotes regarding Egg McBig and his ever-expanding lore.
imdfantom: I eggspecially loved when he stole the Golden Goose Egg and flipped off Vice Admiral Palfrey
Obvious-Gate9046: In the end, though, it turns out he has a heart of yellow-gold, a truly good egg, and will set sail himself, bankrolling his old friend Captain French Fry Bacon.
On March 26th, 2026, the original creator, Redditor Zodiatron, expanded on the lore of the character with a post to /r/OnePiece[5] titled "Egg McBig's tragic backstory," which featured two images, the first of which displays Egg McBig as a gleeful child of the Longarm Tribe, and the second showing Egg McBig at a later date, consuming the infamous No-Arm No-Arm Fruit despite his crewmate pleading with him not to.
The post garnered over 2,200 upvotes and 100 comments in four days.
Also on March 26th, 2026, Redditor MrBraddy posted a detailed drawing of a manga page depicting Egg McBig to the /r/OnePiece[6] subreddit. The illustration, drawn purposefully in a style that emulates that of the series creator Eiichiro Oda, was well received by the community, receiving over 6,400 upvotes and 210 comments in four days.
On March 27th, Redditor Some_Random_Android created the /r/EggMcBig[8] subreddit for the character, where fans share additional fan art and lore surrounding Egg McBig.
Top Character Tropes Post
Later on March 26th, 2026, the character spread outside its home subreddit of r/r/OnePiece after becoming a point of discussion on the /r/TopCharacterTropes[7] subreddit in a post made by Redditor Individual_Iron4221 that referenced the parody movie Goncharov.
